Let’s Talk About Putter Fitting
Other golf putters typically offer very few fitting options, and some don’t even offer models suitable for left handed golfers. The Quantum Golf Putter offers every fitting option and is suitable for either right or left handed golfers.
When you order your new Quantum Golf Putter you will be asked to specify: 1) Grip Size, 2) Shaft Length, and 3) Shaft Angle. Note: You will also be asked to enter a Referral, which is not a fitting factor but is the way you get a FREE PUTTER COVER.
Grip Size
There will be a drop-down prompt on the order form so you can specify either:
- Medium 8/8” diameter,
- Large 9/8” diameter
- Small 7/8” diameter
- None (this is for those who want to use another grip).
Suggestion: Go to the dowel rod department of your local hardware store. Then pull out one 36” long dowel rod of each diameter (7/8, 8/8, and 9/8), and in turn hold each as you would your putter. One will feel better than the other two and that is the size you should order.
Shaft Length
There will be a prompt on the order form asking you to specify your shaft length. You can enter in any length from the USGA minimum of 18.0 inches up to our maximum of 36.0 inches. If you want to have your local club maker install a different shaft, enter “NONE” and we will ship the head only.
Suggestion: While you are at the hardware store deciding which diameter grip feels best, it would be a good time to find out what length feels best. Use the dowel rod as a pretend putter and take your normal putting stance with it. Then make a light pencil mark on the rod where the heel of your upper hand grasps the rod. Add an inch to that length to get the putter length you should specify.
Shaft Angle
There will be a drop-down prompt on the order form so you can specify either:
- Standard 75 degree shaft angle
- Upright 76 degree shaft angle
- Flat 74 degree shaft angle
- Not Applicable (this is for those who enter “None” on the Shaft Length prompt.

Many years of testing has resulted in our opinion that 75 degrees is the best shaft angle for a putter. Angles much greater than that are only suitable for long or belly putters which we do not recommend. Angles much less than that tend to encourage a “barn door swing” which is detrimental to precision putting.
Suggestion: while you are at the hardware store deciding on grip size and shaft length, have someone take a picture of you in your putting stance and compare that picture to the graphic above. If your shaft angle is in the mid-range of the angle lines shown in the graphic that is good and you should ordner a Standard 75 degree shaft angle. If your shaft angle is much greater then you should order the Upright Shaft Angle; if it is much less then you should order the Flat Shaft Angle.
